London: Charles III ascended to the throne of Britain. Many foreign royals including world leaders, kings, queens, princes and princesses have also come to witness the ceremony.
About 4000 guests from different countries participated in the event. Indian Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, his wife Sudesh Dhankar, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins and others attended the ceremony.
The ceremony was presided over by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. The five-stage coronation ceremony began at 3:30 PM IST. Security was tight at Westminster Abbey, where the ceremony took place.
Charles III also used the throne, which was built in 1300 for the coronation of King Edward. After Charles succeeded to the throne, the archbishop presented the king with a cross and jeweled scepter and a diamond ring. Then the royal crown was placed on the head and Charles III was hailed as the sovereign of Britain.
Seven decades later, the coronation ceremony began after the royal procession from Buckingham Palace arrived at Westminster Abbey. The ceremonies were full of historical features. Charles III became Britain's new crown prince with the death of Queen Elizabeth last September. The accession of Queen Camilla also took place with it.
Ascension and protests also took place. Detractors say the public has no interest in the event. In a survey of more than 3,000 UK people last month, 35% said they did not care much about the promotion. 29% said they don't care at all.
"Isn't it the former king...this is the ceremony. Charles is not the UK's new monarch, but has been since his mother's death in September. Charles is also a member of the Accession Council. ” -says Norman Bakker. Norman Bakker, a former Liberal Democrat MP and Republican, accused the coronation as constitutionally unnecessary and that all the displays and pageants that take place as part of it are like Disney World scenes.
Charles has been officially announced as the new King on September 10, 2022. Expenditure in the name of coronation should be avoided. Charles has a fortune of £1.8 billion and is exempt from income tax and inheritance tax.
