On Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the country's security agencies were investigating links between the Indian government and Hardeep Singh Nijjar, whom he called a "Canadian citizen".
India has dismissed Trudeau's allegations as "absurd" and "motivated", and Canada has expelled an Indian official over the matter, as well as a senior Canadian diplomat.
And the Indian government on Wednesday issued an advisory to Indian citizens and students in Canada, asking them to be "extremely vigilant" in view of "growing anti-India activities and politically sanctioned hate crimes and violence in Canada."
