New Delhi: After the deterioration of diplomatic relations with Canada, India has advised its Indian citizens and students to be extremely cautious.
"In view of increasing anti-India activities, hate crimes and violence in Canada, all Indian nationals there and those planning to travel there are requested to exercise extreme caution," the Union Ministry of External Affairs said.
The threat is specifically targeting Indian diplomats and sections of Indian society who oppose the anti-India agenda. Therefore, the central government has asked Indian citizens to avoid traveling to areas in Canada where such incidents have been reported.
Indian students in Canada have also been advised to be extremely cautious. The Ministry of External Affairs has also asked Indian citizens and students in Canada to register with the Indian High Commission in Ottawa or the Consulate in Toronto.
After Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India of involvement in the killing of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijr, the diplomatic relations between the two countries worsened. Both countries had expelled their diplomatic representatives.
Following this, the Ministry of External Affairs has issued a warning to Indian citizens after Canadian citizens have been warned against traveling to India.
