South Africa won the toss and elected to bat. He lost 4 wickets while scoring 24 runs. Klassen and Miller combined for the fifth wicket. Meanwhile, Ksasan got out after scoring 47 runs. Miller's century of 101 off 116 balls brought South Africa to a remarkable score.
In reply, the Aussies got off to a good start. Travis Head was out for 62 runs. Then the wickets kept falling as the spinners found their rhythm. Australia smelled defeat at that stage. However, Steven Smith and Inglis brought Australia back into the match.

Smith was dismissed for 30 runs by De Kock's beautiful catch. Inglis, who scored 28 runs, left the field soon. Captain Pat Cummins teamed up with Mitchell Starc to rescue the struggling Aussie line-up again. Thus Australia rushed to the eighth final.
