The Canadian government says it has decided to withdraw the children of its diplomats and their parents from Israel amid concerns about an expanded Middle East war.
Global Affairs Canada said it has authorized the temporary transfer of children and their parents to a safe third country.
The embassies in Tel Aviv and Beirut and the Palestinian Authority's representative office - in Ramallah in the West Bank - "all remain fully operational and continue to provide essential services to Canadians," Global Affairs Canada (GAC) said in a statement Wednesday evening. Diplomats stationed in Ramallah and Beirut do not have dependents living with them, GAC said.
