"India is committed to developing a mobility ecosystem that supports both economic growth and ecological sustainability," Modi said, highlighting ongoing efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports.
The Prime Minister noted that the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has been instrumental in driving the sector forward, contributing over ₹2.25 lakh crore in sales and creating more than 1.5 lakh direct jobs.
"Ease of travel is a key priority for India," Modi stated, referencing the government’s allocation of ₹11 lakh crore in the latest budget for infrastructure development. The expansion of multi-lane highways and expressways has significantly bolstered connectivity and mobility across the nation.
Lauding the auto industry’s achievements, Modi noted a 12% annual growth in the sector last year, accompanied by a substantial rise in exports. Encouraging further investment, he pointed to the country's growing middle class, rapid urbanization, robust infrastructure development, and availability of affordable vehicles as drivers of growth.
He also identified battery storage systems as a prime investment opportunity, reinforcing India's ambition to establish a comprehensive mobility ecosystem.
The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, spanning January 17–22, brings together key players across the mobility value chain. With venues at Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi in Delhi and the India Expo Center and Mart in Greater Noida, the event is set to showcase over 100 launches, encompassing automobiles, components, electronics, energy storage, and cutting-edge technologies.
"India’s automotive sector is not just fantastic—it is future-ready," Modi declared, positioning the nation as a global leader in mobility innovation.
