Padma Awards 2025: Full List of Recipients Announced on Republic Day Eve

The Government of India has announced the prestigious Padma Awards for 2025, recognizing 139 individuals for their exceptional contributions across various fields. President Droupadi Murmu approved the conferment of seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awards.


Among the recipients are 23 women, 10 individuals from the category of foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI, and 13 posthumous awardees. Congratulating the awardees, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “India is proud to honour and celebrate their extraordinary achievements. Their dedication and perseverance are truly motivating. Each awardee is synonymous with hard work, passion, and innovation, which has positively impacted countless lives.”

Categories of Padma Awards

The Padma Awards, one of India’s highest civilian honors, are divided into three categories:

  • Padma Vibhushan: For exceptional and distinguished service.

  • Padma Bhushan: For distinguished service of high order.

  • Padma Shri: For distinguished service in any field.

The awards span disciplines such as art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and more.

Among the 113 recipients, notable awardees include:

  • Adwaita Charan Gadanayak (Art)

  • Arijit Singh (Art)

  • Harvinder Singh (Sports): The para-archer from Kaithal, Haryana, known as "Kaithal ka Eklavya," became the first Indian to win gold at the 2024 Paralympic Games.

  • Neerja Bhatla (Medicine): Renowned cervical cancer specialist.

  • Shaikha AJ Al Sabah (Medicine): A yoga enthusiast from Kuwait.

  • Libia Lobo Sardesai (Social Work): At 100 years old, she played a significant role in Goa’s freedom movement and co-founded the underground radio station Voz da Liberdabe (Voice of Freedom) in 1955.

  • Gokul Chandra Das (Art): A Dhak player from West Bengal who broke gender stereotypes by training 150 women in the traditionally male-dominated field.
