Cork: A man in his 30s has been formally charged in connection with the death of an 82-year-old woman in Carrigaline, Co Cork.
The deceased, identified locally as Stella Nnadi, originally from Nigeria, had been residing in Ireland for over a decade. Gardaà responded to an incident at her home on February 23, 2025, but she did not require immediate medical assistance at the time. However, she later became unwell and was admitted to Cork University Hospital on February 25, where she tragically passed away.
Ongoing Investigation
A postmortem examination was conducted on Wednesday by State Pathologist Dr Heidi Okkers, though Gardaà have withheld the findings for operational reasons.
Following an investigation, a man in his 30s was arrested and has now been charged in connection with Ms. Nnadi’s death. He is scheduled to appear before Cork District Court, Court No. 1, at 10:30 AM on February 27, 2025.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed:
"The man, aged in his 30s, arrested in relation to the death of a woman in her 80s following an incident at a residential property in Carrigaline, Co Cork, has been charged. Investigations are ongoing."
Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident as the legal proceedings move forward.
