New Delhi [India], February 20: Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of Delhi Chief Minister-designate and BJP leader Rekha Gupta, BJP MLAs have expressed confidence in her leadership, asserting that she will spearhead Delhi’s development and uphold Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a 'Viksit Delhi'.
BJP leader Alka Singh Gurjar emphasized Gupta’s dedication, stating, "Rekha Gupta has been a committed worker. Aligning with PM Modi’s guarantees for Delhi, she will elevate the city’s development to new heights."
BJP MLA Sanjay Goel echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the party’s commitment to rectifying the shortcomings of the previous administration. "We are extremely pleased with the selection of Rekha Gupta as CM. Together, we will advance PM Modi's vision and address the long-neglected issues of Delhi."
BJP MLA Gajendra Yadav acknowledged the party's broader movement towards inclusivity, stating, "Rekha Gupta’s appointment is a proud moment. The party’s leadership is ensuring equal representation for women, OBCs, youth, and all communities. She is a dynamic leader who has risen from student politics, and under her leadership, BJP’s vision for Delhi will be realized."
BJP MLA Karnail Singh underscored the significance of a woman leading the state. "It is a moment of pride for the BJP government. Having a woman as CM is a testament to women empowerment. Rekha Gupta is highly efficient and has evolved from ABVP, making her the ideal choice."
BJP MLA Anil Goyal added, "Under her leadership, our government will take decisive action on key issues. Her appointment is not just symbolic; she has earned this role through her capabilities and track record."
Addressing speculation regarding his potential appointment as Deputy CM, BJP leader Parvesh Verma reaffirmed his dedication to the party. "I have always been a devoted BJP worker and will remain so. My father served as Delhi’s CM with unwavering commitment. Any responsibility assigned to me by the party will be carried out diligently."
Rekha Gupta is set to take the oath as Delhi CM at a swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, alongside six cabinet ministers—Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh.
She will be the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi, succeeding Atishi. The National Capital has previously had female CMs from the BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party.
A seasoned political leader, Rekha Gupta represents the Shalimar Bagh constituency and has served as the general secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha in Delhi and a member of the party’s national executive committee. Throughout her tenure, she has championed several initiatives for the welfare of marginalized communities and women.
The BJP is forming a government in Delhi after a 27-year hiatus, securing 48 out of 70 seats in the recently concluded assembly elections. The Aam Aadmi Party won 22 seats, while the Congress failed to secure a single seat for the third consecutive election.
