Ireland :An Garda Síochána has issued an appeal for witnesses following a fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the R245 at Carrigart, Co. Donegal, on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
According to a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána, the incident, involving a van, took place at approximately 1:00 PM. Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene; however, the male driver, a man in his 70s, was pronounced deceased at the site of the crash. No other injuries have been reported.
The deceased has been transported to the mortuary at Letterkenny University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course.
Authorities have closed the affected section of the R245 to facilitate a forensic examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions currently in place.
Gardaí are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have relevant camera footage from the area between 12:10 PM and 1:10 PM to come forward.
