Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the memorial of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) founder Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur, where he paid floral tributes. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was also present during the occasion.
During his visit to Nagpur, the Prime Minister also visited Deekshabhoomi, a revered site in Buddhist history, where he offered prayers to Mahatma Buddha. He was welcomed earlier in the day by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The visit coincides with an event organized by the RSS to commemorate the Gudi Padwa festival. At Smruti Mandir, he paid respects to the founding leaders of the RSS.

The memorials of Dr. Hedgewar and M.S. Golwalkar, the second chief of the RSS, are housed within the Dr. Hedgewar Smruti Mandir in Nagpur’s Reshimbagh area.
Prime Minister Modi’s Tribute to RSS Founders
Following his visit, Prime Minister Modi signed the visitor’s book at Smruti Mandir, where he penned a heartfelt tribute to Hedgewar and Golwalkar, describing them as the two foundational pillars of the RSS, which serves as the ideological parent organization of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He expressed that he was deeply moved by his visit to Smruti Mandir, a site that he believes serves as an inspiration for working towards national service. The Prime Minister further noted that Hedgewar and Golwalkar remain a source of motivation for countless RSS Swayamsevaks.

Key Engagements of Prime Minister Modi in Nagpur
As part of his itinerary, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre, an extension of the Madhav Netralaya Eye Institute and Research Centre. Founded in memory of M.S. Golwalkar in 2014, the institute’s new facility will house a 250-bed hospital, 14 outpatient departments, and 14 modular operation theatres, offering affordable eye care services.
PM Modi will also visit the ammunition manufacturing facility of Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited, where he will inaugurate a newly constructed airstrip designed for testing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The airstrip measures 1,250 meters in length and 25 meters in width. Additionally, he will inaugurate a testing facility for live ammunition and warheads, including Loitering Munitions and other advanced guided weapons.
Security Arrangements for the Prime Minister’s Visit
Ahead of his visit, security officials from the Special Protection Group (SPG) and local police conducted inspections at key locations. The Prime Minister’s convoy will include 20 specialized vehicles, including those designated for VIP security and others equipped with electronic jammers to counter potential remote-controlled threats. Over 5,000 police personnel have been deployed across the city, including units from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, the Anti-Riot Squad, and the Quick Response Team, to ensure seamless security arrangements throughout his visit.
