In the aftermath of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, security forces have intensified anti-terror operations across Jammu and Kashmir. The government has adopted a firm stance, aiming to neutralize terror networks and enhance security measures throughout the region.
As part of its broader response, the Government of India on Monday ordered the blocking of several Pakistan-based YouTube channels, including one operated by former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar. Defence expert Sajeev Srivastava, speaking to ANI, noted that Pakistan now finds itself increasingly isolated on the global stage. "Islamic nations today recognize India's growing significance and are keen to maintain strong bilateral relations. Pakistan stands isolated, and the United States has reaffirmed its support for India," Srivastava stated.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 11:00 AM today to further review the security situation. Singh had earlier consulted with Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, following which discussions were held with the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, authorities have identified 67 Pakistani nationals residing in the region, with 59 of them reportedly holding long-term visas. Physical verification of their addresses is currently underway as part of enhanced security measures.
Prime Minister Modi, during the 121st edition of his radio program Mann Ki Baat, reiterated his government's commitment to delivering the "toughest punishment" to those responsible for acts of terror. Offering his condolences, he assured the families of the victims that justice would be pursued relentlessly. Highlighting the significant economic and social progress witnessed in Kashmir — particularly the surge in tourism and youth employment — the Prime Minister described the Pahalgam attack as a "desperate attempt" by adversaries to undermine the region’s development.
Authorities have also intensified crackdowns on terror networks, conducting widespread raids across Doda and Kishtwar districts. In a related development, Dehradun Police arrested a youth accused of circulating inflammatory content on social media concerning the Pahalgam attack and the demolition of a shrine at Government Doon Hospital.
Amid rising tensions, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has called for the suspension of water supply to Bangladesh, following India's decision to suspend its participation in the Indus Waters Treaty. The Pahalgam attack, which tragically claimed the lives of 26 individuals, most of them tourists, continues to shape the national security discourse.
