A recent report published by Air Mail on Saturday details allegations from nine women accusing Jared Leto, the 53-year-old actor and musician, of inappropriate behavior spanning several years. The claims, which include allegations of predatory conduct, have raised serious concerns about Leto's interactions with young women, some of whom were teenagers at the time of the alleged incidents.
According to the report, one woman recounted an encounter in 2006 when she was 16 years old. She alleges that Leto, then seated with actress Ashley Olsen, approached her outside a Los Angeles café, initiated a conversation, and obtained her phone number. The woman claims Leto called her days later, inviting her to a party at his residence. She declined, citing her lack of a driver’s license, but alleges that Leto continued to contact her in the early morning hours, with conversations that reportedly turned sexual in nature, including explicit questions about her personal experiences.
Another accuser, model Laura La Rue, described a similar experience in 2008 when she was 16. At an event in Beverly Hills, La Rue claims Leto, then 36, intensely watched her and asked for her contact information. Their subsequent email correspondence allegedly led to a visit to Leto’s home in April 2009, where La Rue reports he engaged in flirtatious behavior. During a later visit, when La Rue was 17, she alleges Leto appeared naked in front of her, an act she found unsettling. Leto’s representative denied these claims, asserting that their communications were neither sexual nor inappropriate and noting that La Rue had allegedly applied to work as Leto’s personal assistant, a claim she denies.
A third woman, who was underage at the time, alleged that Leto initiated a texting relationship and asked inappropriate questions during her visits to his home. She claims that when she was 18, Leto engaged in explicit behavior without her consent, including an incident where he allegedly coerced her into physical contact.
Additionally, Los Angeles-based DJ and music producer Allie Teilz recently reposted a 2012 Facebook status on Instagram, referencing an alleged assault by Leto when she was 17. In her Instagram Stories, reviewed by Air Mail, Teilz described the incident as “predatory, terrifying, and unacceptable,” asserting that Leto was aware of her age.
A representative for Leto has categorically denied all allegations reported by Air Mail, describing them as “demonstrably false” and maintaining that no inappropriate conduct occurred.
These allegations, if substantiated, raise significant questions about professional boundaries and conduct. Air Mail’s report underscores the importance of accountability and the need for thorough investigation into claims of this nature. As of now, no legal actions related to these allegations have been reported.
