Kavaratti: BJP Lakshadweep State President K.N. Kasimikkoya on Thursday reaffirmed the party’s developmental vision for the Union Territory and issued a strong warning against those allegedly involved in spreading misinformation about the party and its leadership.
Addressing reporters in Kavaratti, Kasimikkoya clarified that the recent restructuring of the BJP Lakshadweep unit marks a clear shift from previous approaches. “This is not a repetition of the past. The reorganization has been carried out with a focus on ideological clarity and a commitment to the developmental aspirations of Lakshadweep. The BJP aims to become a catalyst for delivering the Central Government’s welfare initiatives directly to the people,” he said.
Highlighting the Centre’s trust in the Lakshadweep BJP, Kasimikkoya noted that the Modi government has granted the party appropriate representation in local boards and corporations. “Our efforts are focused on accelerating development projects and ensuring that benefits reach the most deserving segments of society,” he added.
Responding to recent media reports and social media campaigns targeting the BJP state unit, Kasimikkoya dismissed the allegations as unfounded and politically motivated. “Baseless propaganda against the party and its leadership is being closely monitored. Those behind such defamatory efforts—whether internal or external—will have to pay a heavy price,” he cautioned.
He also pointed to the growing support for the BJP in the islands, stating that a large number of individuals from other political organisations have joined the party in recent months. “Many of them have already taken up roles as active party workers,” he said.
State General Secretaries H.K. Mohammed Kasim and Shaharban echoed these sentiments, revealing that hundreds of booth committees have already been restructured across different islands. “We are in the final stages of completing district committees, morchas, and key functionary lists. All organisational updates will be submitted to the state leadership in a time-bound manner,” they said.
Both Kasimikkoya and National Council Member Syed Mohammed reiterated that anti-party activities from within will not be tolerated. “The organisation will take firm disciplinary action against any member found engaging in conduct detrimental to the party’s interests,” they warned.
The Lakshadweep BJP, under the leadership of K.N. Kasimikkoya, has projected itself as a key stakeholder in aligning the islands’ progress with the broader developmental vision of the Narendra Modi-led central government.
