Gwalior, June 17: In a significant crackdown on narcotics activity, police in Gwalior have arrested a couple allegedly at the center of a local drug distribution network targeting youth. The operation, led by the Sirol police, resulted in the seizure of over seven kilograms of ganja from the couple’s residence.
Authorities acted on a credible tip-off and conducted a raid at the home of Rajveer Jatav and his wife, Suman, located in Sirol Colony. Upon arrival, officers encountered a gathering of bystanders near the property, many of whom dispersed as police approached. The couple attempted to evade the officers by retreating into their home but were quickly apprehended.
During a thorough search of the premises, law enforcement officials recovered a substantial quantity of ganja, confirming suspicions of the couple’s involvement in narcotics distribution. Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo had been actively supplying ganja to youths across Sirol, Futi Colony, and Hurawali, areas that have recently reported a surge in drug-related incidents.
Both individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and police are continuing to interrogate the accused to uncover links to a broader drug trafficking network.
The arrest marks a crucial step in ongoing efforts to combat the rise of drug abuse in the region. Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling local supply chains and protecting vulnerable communities from the growing influence of narcotics.
