Cardiff: Suspect arrested in connection with the death of a Sri Lankan woman in a car accident in Cardiff, UK.
Nivunhella (32), died in the accident on Thursday.
Officers from South Wales Police attended South Morgan Place, Riverside, at 7.37am on Thursday 21 August following reports of a woman with serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, Nirodha Nivunhella died at the scene.
A 37-year-old man, Thisara Veragalage, who was known to the victim, was arrested on Seawall Road, Splotch, in connection with the incident. The man, from Pentwyn, was charged with murder and appeared at Cardiff Crown Court. He was remanded in custody by magistrates. Officers have launched a murder investigation.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the surrounding area to get in touch.
Investigators are particularly keen to hear from anyone who spotted a grey Ford Fiesta in or around South Morgan Place, or Seawall Road, including Wellington Street, Clare Road, Penarth Road and East Tyndall Street, between 7.30am and 8.30am.
