A young woman in Ahmedabad was shot by her estranged lover on Tuesday after she became engaged to another man. She is undergoing treatment at a hospital and is reported to be out of danger, while the accused has been arrested.
According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the woman went to meet her former partner, identified as Arbaaz. During a heated altercation, he allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot her at close range. The bullet only grazed her, causing minor injuries.
Following the attack, the accused — a native of Madhya Pradesh — fled the scene but was intercepted by police while attempting to return to his home state by bus.
Investigations revealed that the woman had previously been in a relationship with Arbaaz. Her engagement to another man reportedly enraged him, prompting him to plan her murder. He is said to have traveled from Madhya Pradesh to Ahmedabad with a firearm purchased in his home state for ₹28,000.
Police confirmed that further inquiries are underway.
