Amritapuri (Kollam): The Kerala government paid tribute to Mata Amritanandamayi during celebrations marking the Silver Jubilee of her historic address at the United Nations General Assembly, where she spoke in Malayalam before the world. The felicitation took place at the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham campus in Amritapuri, with Saji Cheriyan, Minister for Cultural Affairs, representing the state.
Thousands gathered at the campus to witness the celebrations, reliving the moment when Mata Amritanandamayi’s voice, echoing the values of love and service, reached a global audience. Other dignitaries at the event included C.R. Mahesh MLA, who praised Amritapuri’s emergence as a global hub of service, and Uma Thomas MLA, who urged everyone to embrace Amma’s words of love and brotherhood while promoting the Malayalam language internationally.
In her response, Mata Amritanandamayi emphasized the importance of honoring those who have shaped the language and culture of Malayalam. She encouraged parents to inspire children to uphold and promote the language.
