Mumbai: Politician Zeeshan Siddique has voiced dissatisfaction with the crime branch’s response to his Right to Information (RTI) query regarding the deportation proceedings of gangster Anmol Bishnoi, accused in the murder of his father, former minister Baba Siddique.
Zeeshan sought details of the measures taken by Mumbai Police to secure Anmol’s deportation from Canada, where he was detained earlier this year following an Interpol notice. The crime branch, however, declined to provide information, citing exemptions under the RTI Act.
Unconvinced, Siddique filed a first appeal on August 16 before Deputy Commissioner of Police (Disclosure) Raj Tilak Roshan, the designated first appellate authority.
Baba Siddique was shot dead in Bandra on October 12, 2024. At least 25 arrests have been made in connection with the case. Investigators allege that Anmol Bishnoi—the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi—ordered the killing.
