As Bihar prepares for its upcoming Assembly elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has announced a significant set of promises aimed at strengthening the state’s Panchayati Raj institutions.
Addressing a press conference, Yadav — speaking on behalf of the Opposition’s INDIA bloc — pledged to double the allowances of all Panchayat representatives if the alliance is voted to power. In addition, he announced that Panchayat leaders would be provided with a pension scheme and an insurance cover worth ₹50 lakh, underscoring the bloc’s commitment to empowering grassroots governance and rural leadership.
The Bihar Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in two phases, on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes slated for November 14.
