Wife and Mother-in-Law Arrested in Kanyakumari Murder Case; Illicit Affair Led to Brutal Killing

Kanyakumari: In a chilling reminder of how extramarital relationships can spiral into tragedy, a brutal murder in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari district has shocked the local community. The incident, which took place on October 30 in the Brahmapuram area near Kumarakovil, has led to the arrest of a woman and her mother in connection with the killing of her husband.

The victim, identified as Krishnadas (36), a lorry driver by profession, was found dead with multiple cut injuries in an abandoned building near Kottipparavil. His wife Pavithra (33) and mother-in-law Muthulakshmi (57) have been arrested, while two other suspects — Ramesh and Vimal — remain absconding.

Illicit Affair Turns Deadly

According to police sources, Pavithra had been involved in an extramarital affair with Ramesh, a close friend of her husband and a resident of Thiruvithaikode. Their secret relationship reportedly caused frequent quarrels between the couple.

On the night of October 30, Krishnadas, Ramesh, and Vimal were drinking together at a dilapidated structure near Villukuri. The following morning, Krishnadas’s mutilated body was discovered at the same spot, his throat slit and deep wounds visible across his body. Locals immediately alerted the Eraniel police, who launched an investigation.

Family Complaint Uncovers a Dark Plot

Krishnadas’s mother, Krishnakumari (61), filed a complaint alleging that her son’s wife had conspired with Ramesh to murder him due to their illicit relationship. Based on the complaint, police expanded the investigation, uncovering shocking new details.

Further questioning revealed that Pavithra’s mother, Muthulakshmi, was also complicit in the crime. During interrogation, Muthulakshmi made a startling confession.

She told police that “a few days earlier, Krishnadas, in a drunken state, entered my house and sexually assaulted me. I was devastated and told my daughter about the incident. Pavithra, enraged by what she heard, informed Ramesh — who then decided to kill Krishnadas.”

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

Following her confession, both Pavithra and Muthulakshmi were taken into custody and remanded to judicial custody at Thuckalay jail. Police have intensified efforts to locate and arrest Ramesh and Vimal, who remain on the run.

The gruesome murder has sent shockwaves through the district, exposing the growing trend of extramarital affairs and the dark, violent consequences they sometimes lead to. Authorities have described the case as a “deeply disturbing example” of personal vengeance turning into a cold-blooded crime.
