Pakistan Reportedly Offers to Send 20,000 Troops to Gaza to Fight Hamas

Islamabad: In a startling development, reports suggest that Pakistan has offered to deploy 20,000 troops to Gaza to assist U.S.-led operations against Hamas. However, the proposal has allegedly come with a controversial financial condition — Pakistan reportedly demanded USD 10,000 per soldier, while Israel countered with an offer of just USD 100 per soldier, according to recent intelligence briefings.

The reports indicate that high-level discussions recently took place between officials from Pakistan’s military, Israel’s Mossad, and the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Following these meetings, Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir is said to have agreed in principle to send Pakistani forces to Gaza with the stated objective of disarming Hamas — specifically, to seize or destroy the group’s weapon stockpiles.

Notably, Pakistan’s involvement would represent a historic contradiction. The country does not recognize the State of Israel, yet it is now reportedly preparing to fight on Israel’s behalf against Hamas militants in Gaza.

Pakistani journalist Asma Shirzai reported that during negotiations, General Munir had requested USD 10,000 per soldier, while Israel’s offer was limited to USD 100 per soldier. If implemented, the plan would effectively turn Pakistan’s deployment into a mercenary mission, critics argue — a move that has already stirred outrage across parts of the Muslim world.

The alleged arrangement follows General Munir’s recent visit to Egypt, where he reportedly met with senior intelligence officers from Mossad and the CIA. Following that meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is said to have briefed his cabinet on the decision to involve Pakistani and Indonesian troops in Gaza operations.

Observers have noted the deep irony of the development. Pakistan, long a vocal supporter of the Palestinian cause, may now find itself fighting Palestinians instead of defending them, echoing earlier decades when Pakistani forces under General Zia-ul-Haq were accused of massacring thousands of Palestinians in the 1970s during Middle Eastern conflicts.

If confirmed, this would mark a dramatic and controversial shift in Pakistan’s foreign and defense policy, blurring the line between ideological commitment and geopolitical opportunism.
