Pathankot police have arrested a 15-year-old boy on charges of spying for Pakistan, alleging that he was in contact with handlers linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
According to police officials, the minor had allegedly been sharing sensitive information related to India with ISI-linked operatives over the past year. The information was reportedly transmitted through multiple communication channels, which are currently under investigation.
Concerns Over Recruitment of Minors
Police said the case has raised serious security concerns, as preliminary findings indicate a deliberate attempt by ISI handlers to target and recruit minors for espionage-related activities. Officials warned that such efforts pose a significant threat to national security.
Authorities further stated that other minors in Punjab are suspected to have been contacted or influenced by ISI operatives. In response, police stations across the state have been placed on alert and instructed to maintain heightened vigilance and closely monitor any similar activities.
Investigation Ongoing
The investigation remains underway, with efforts focused on identifying the broader network involved in the alleged espionage operation. Police officials confirmed that all legal procedures applicable under juvenile justice laws are being strictly followed in the case.
Officials said further details would be shared as the probe progresses.
