A routine day turned life-changing for 51-year-old N.V. Padmanabhan, a supermarket employee from Parappanangadi in Malappuram, after he secured the ₹10 crore first prize in the Kerala State Lottery Summer Bumper.
Padmanabhan, who has been working at a supermarket in Kozhichena for the past eight years, purchased the winning ticket (SB 517026) on March 26 in Palakkad while returning from a temple visit to Coimbatore. Not a regular lottery participant, he said he decided to buy the ticket solely because it was part of the popular “Bumper” series.
He learned of his win on Tuesday morning, a moment that brought immense joy to his family. Padmanabhan lives with his wife Smitha and their two children—Sreehari, a Class 10 student, and Parvana, a Class 7 student. The family expressed happiness and disbelief at the unexpected windfall, according to reports by Mathrubhumi.
Following the announcement, Padmanabhan handed over the winning ticket to the State Bank of India branch in Parappanangadi for further processing.
The winning ticket was sold by Palakkad-based district agent S. Madhusoodanan. The second prize of ₹1 crore went to ticket number SE 660573, which was also sold in Palakkad. It was distributed through Sree Mookambika Lucky Centre near the Palakkad Municipal Bus Stand and later retailed at a lottery outlet near the KSRTC stand.
The remarkable win marks a significant turning point in Padmanabhan’s life, transforming an occasional purchase into a once-in-a-lifetime fortune.
