Donald Trump on Thursday asserted that Iran is eager to reach an agreement with the United States to end the ongoing conflict, even as Tehran has formally rejected Washington’s proposed 15-point peace plan.
In a strongly worded statement, Trump warned Iranian leadership to “get serious soon, before it is too late,” signalling continued pressure from Washington amid escalating tensions.
The U.S. president reiterated his claim that Iran’s military position has been severely weakened, stating the country has been “militarily obliterated” and faces “zero chance of a comeback.” He also described Iranian negotiators as “very different” and “strange,” alleging that they are privately seeking an agreement while publicly maintaining a more cautious stance.
“The Iranian negotiators are very different and ‘strange’. They are ‘begging’ us to make a deal,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. He added that while Tehran has indicated it is merely “reviewing” the U.S. proposal, the reality, according to him, is far more urgent.
Trump further cautioned that failure to engage seriously in negotiations could have severe consequences, warning that once certain developments unfold, there would be “no turning back.”
The remarks come amid heightened diplomatic and military tensions, with conflicting signals emerging over the prospects for a negotiated settlement to the conflict.
