A shocking incident has been reported from Tirunelveli in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, where a man allegedly chased and killed his wife in broad daylight at a busy bus stand, reportedly over suspicions of an extramarital relationship.
The incident occurred in the Palamadai area of the district. According to preliminary reports, Sudhakar had been married to Pechiyamma, and the couple had two children. However, the relationship had reportedly been strained for some time, and Pechiyamma had been living separately from her husband following ongoing disputes.
Police said that on Sunday morning, Pechiyamma left her residence for work. Sudhakar allegedly followed her from a distance. When she reached the Sandhipu Bus Stand, the accused is said to have suddenly produced a sickle-like sharp weapon and began chasing her.
Within moments, he allegedly attacked her repeatedly in the crowded area. The assault was described as extremely brutal, and Pechiyamma succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The sudden attack caused panic among bystanders in the busy public area.
Following the incident, Sudhakar reportedly went directly to the Tamil Nadu Police station at Sandhipu and surrendered. Police later arrived at the scene, recovered the victim’s body, and sent it for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Sudhakar suspected his wife of having an extramarital relationship, which may have triggered the fatal attack. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation and are currently questioning the accused to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crime.
