India on Thursday condemned the attack on an Indian-flagged commercial vessel off the coast of Oman. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said about the attack on an Indian-flagged vessel off the coast of Oman.
India reiterated its position against attacks on merchant ships and disruptions to maritime trade routes. "India reiterates that it should avoid targeting commercial shipping, endangering innocent civilian crew members, or obstructing freedom of navigation and commerce," the Ministry of External Affairs said.
The incident comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East and continued disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy shipping route. Jaiswal said all Indian crew members on board were safe and thanked Omani authorities for their rescue. There are currently 13 Indian-flagged ships in the Persian Gulf waiting to pass through the conflict-ridden waterway.
