Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump met in Paris

Paris: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump met in Paris on Wednesday in a crucial step towards restoring bilateral ties.

The important meeting between the two leaders took place on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised President Trump's efforts to ensure peace in the Middle East.

Along with this, the Prime Minister specifically raised the issue of safety of Indian sailors working in international shipping lanes and conveyed its importance to the US President. Calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi an angel, Trump said that India will achieve great growth as long as he is under Modi's leadership. Modi also said that he hopes for long-term peace in the Middle East.

Trump said he wanted the Russia-Ukraine war to end as soon as possible, and reiterated that he had already ended eight wars. Trump also said that the US would help if anyone attacked India. Now, Trump jokingly said that if a new leader comes there (in India), he is not so sure about it.

But if India is attacked and he (Narendra Modi) is the leader, we will definitely be there to help," Trump said. Mr. President, it is a great pleasure to meet you. We met in Washington last year. Since then, our relationship has gained a new momentum. There is a new energy in it. It is a great pleasure that we have set goals together.

We are trying our best to achieve those goals and are moving forward very quickly,” the Prime Minister said. Keeping the Strait of Hormuz open is essential for the global economy and ensuring freedom of navigation there, Narendra Modi said. Talking about the safety of sailors, the Prime Minister said he hopes the issue will be given priority in the US-Iran deal scheduled to be signed on Friday.

Lakhs of Indian sailors work in the world's major maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz. They contribute immensely to global progress. Their safety is of utmost importance to us. You have made great efforts to reach this understanding and agreement with Iran. I am confident that the safety of sailors will be given the highest priority while implementing this agreement," Modi said.
