Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received a death threat as he is scheduled to visit Australia

Melbourne: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received a death threat as he is scheduled to visit Australia on July 8.

Australian media reported that the death threat came online. The death threat appeared as a comment under a Facebook post related to the 'Melbourne Meet Modi' event organized by Indian-origin people in Melbourne. The comment says, "If you come to Australia, you will die" and that it would be better to close the stadium where the event is being held.

The Australian Federal Police has launched an investigation into the incident. The police have identified the IP address from which the threatening message was sent. The police are investigating whether this IP address has been linked to any previous criminal activity. Australian media are also reporting that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the message in detail.

The Prime Minister, who is scheduled to arrive in Melbourne on July 8, was earlier scheduled to meet with the Indian community. In addition, the security threat has arisen at a time when important issues, including cooperation in the agricultural sector between the two countries, are to be discussed. Security arrangements have been tightened in Melbourne in the wake of the incident.
