LONDON — A wave of grief has hit the UK Malayali expatriate community following the sudden demise of Angel Jerome, a 28-year-old Indian nurse working in Essex.
Jerome, a native of the Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, India, suffered a fatal cardiac arrest. She was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Basildon Hospital in the UK after suffering a sudden heart attack on Saturday, but his life could not be saved. She was employed as a professional nurse at Basildon University Hospital.
She is the daughter of Mathew George (Moni) and Daisy from Pathanamthitta Naranganam. Her husband is Jerome Jerry, a native of Adoor Anandapally. She has a 7 month old baby girl.
Local community sources have since clarified that while the tragedy has devastated the family, the infant is currently under the care of Jerome's grieving husband.
UK-based Indian community organizations and colleagues at Basildon Hospital have expressed profound condolences. Efforts are currently underway to support the grieving family and coordinate further arrangements..
