NEW DELHI: India secured a resounding victory against Bangladesh in the women's cricket semi-final at the Asian Games. The defending champions registered a massive 114-run win in the thrilling match. With this victory, the Indian women's team advanced to the Asian Games final and assured themselves of a medal.
Opener Shafali Verma powered the Indian innings with a blistering century, becoming the first female cricketer to score a century in the history of the Asian Games. Her brilliant innings featured nine sixes and three fours. Supported by contributions from captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, India posted a mammoth total of 195/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing a target of 196, Bangladesh's batting lineup was dismantled right from the start by the Indian bowling attack. With Deepti Sharma and other bowlers putting up a stellar performance, Bangladesh were restricted to just 81 runs in 15.4 overs. Following this massive semi-final victory, India has marched into the final to fight for the gold medal.
