Solar panel electricity from your own home no longer be profitable? Europe to adopt new policies..!

Dublin: Warning to consumers who earn income by feeding excess electricity generated by solar panels in their homes back to the grid.

Energy experts point out that such payments (feed-in tariffs) to solar owners may be phased out in the future.

Europe is currently witnessing major changes in energy policies. The Netherlands has already begun the process of completely phasing out its net-metering/energy credit system. It is estimated that Ireland, like other countries in the European Union, will eventually be forced to follow the same policy.

Main changes and reasons:

  • Grid pressure and price fluctuations: The massive increase in solar power generation during daytime hours, high grid distribution costs, and fluctuations in market energy prices are forcing governments to review subsidies and benefits.
  • Prioritize your own needs: Consumers should focus on using the energy they generate as much as possible directly for their own household needs, rather than aiming to make a profit by selling electricity to the grid.
  • Battery Storage Solution: Experts remind us that future financial losses can be avoided by installing home battery storage systems that help store excess electricity.
