Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit Appointed Next Indian Air Force Chief

NEW DELHI — The government has appointed Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit as the next Chief of the Indian Air Force, making him the 29th chief of the service.

Dixit, currently serving as Vice Chief of the Air Staff, will take charge as Air Chief Marshal on October 31 afternoon after the retirement of the incumbent, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh.

A fighter-stream officer with nearly four decades of service, Dixit was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on December 6, 1986. He is an Experimental Test Pilot and a Qualified Flying Instructor, with more than 3,500 hours of flying experience.

Over his career, Dixit has flown several advanced aircraft, including the Mirage 2000, MiG-series fighters, Jaguar, Tejas and IL-78. He has also been associated with key Air Force operations, including Operation Safed Sagar and Operation Rakshak.

Dixit has played an important role in expanding the indigenous LCA Tejas programme as part of India's efforts to strengthen defence self-reliance under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

He has been awarded the Vayu Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Param Vishisht Seva Medal for his service.
