If you had COVID-19 in December, you need a booster now
If the person who has recently been vaccinated has COVID-19, wait at least 4 weeks before taking dose 1 or dose 2. Their symptoms are calculated from the date of onset. If you do not know this, use the date you received a positive result.
You can book your vaccine appointment to get your first round of COVID-19 vaccination or booster dose. It is important that you or your child's age group book the right clinic. Vaccines given to young children are different. For children 5 to 15 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must attend their appointment and give their consent for vaccination. There are specialized vaccine clinics for people:
Age 12 and over
Age 5 to 11 years
To book your appointment, select a clinic, date and time for you. You can book an appointment up to 5 days in advance.
To get dose 1 or dose 2
To receive your first round of COVID-19 vaccination, you must be 5 years of age or older.
You or your child's age group can book the clinic. Children 5 to 11 years of age receive a smaller dose of the vaccine than adults and adults. If your child has recently turned 12, they should attend a clinic for people 12 years of age and older. Do this even after they are 12 years old after the first dose.
To book a DOS 2 appointment, you must wait:
- 21 days after your first dose of Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine
- The modern vaccine is given as a booster dose 28 days after your first dose
You must be 12 years of age or older to receive your COVID-19 booster dose.
12- to 15-year-olds must be a parent or legal guardian at their booster appointment. A parent or legal guardian must consent to their child's vaccination.
How long does it take to get a booster?
After your first round of COVID-19 vaccination, you should wait:
- 3 months (minimum 90 days) if you are 16 years of age or older.
- 6 months (minimum 182 days) if you are 12 to 15 years old.
You will not receive your booster dose until after the minimum interval of your appointment day.
- If you have COVID-19 after vaccination, you should take Booster dose:
- When symptoms start 3 months after your positive test result or if you are 16 years of age or older
- When symptoms start 6 months after your positive test result or if you are 12 to 15 years old
- If you have an overdose because you have a weakened immune system, you can get a booster for at least 3 months for your overdose if you are 12 years of age or older.
