The Gujarati film, Chhello Show, which is titled Last Film Show in English, has been selected as India's official entry to the 95th Academy Awards. It has been selected in the Best International Feature Film category.

It's official! Gujarati film Last Film Show (Chhello Show) is India’s official entry to the Best International Feature Film category of the 95th Academy Awards. The coming-of-age film has been directed by Pan Nalin. It features Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Raval and Paresh Mehta in pivotal roles.

At Robert DeNiro's Tribeca Film Festival, Last Film Show (Chhello Show) had its world premiere as the opening film. Since then, it has won numerous prizes at international film festivals, including the Golden Spike at the 66th Valladolid Film Festival in Spain, where it also found commercial success during its theatrical run. In India, Chhello Show will open in theatres on October 14.

Following the announcement that his film Chhello Show would represent India as the nation's official Oscar entry, director Nalin Pan responded on Twitter. "OMG! This is going to be such a fun night! Thank you to the FFI jury members and appreciation to the Film Federation of India. We appreciate your support of Chhello Show. Now that I can breathe again, I believe in the power of entertaining, moving, and enlightening movies! #ChhelloShow #Oscars (sic), @LastFilmShow1, "He composed.

"I could never have dreamed such a day would come and bring light and celebration of light," Pan Nalin wrote in a statement to the media. Although Chhello Show has received support from all across the world, I was left wondering how I could get India to know about it. Now that I can breathe again, I believe in the power of entertaining, moving, and enlightening movies! Thank you, jury, and FFI.

Producer Siddharth Roy Kapur expressed his joy at the announcement, saying, "We are happy and honoured that our picture, Last Film Show, has been chosen to represent India at the Academy Awards. A movie like this, which embraces the joy and romance of cinema and the theatre experience, could not have come out at a more appropriate time. When a pandemic prevents people from going to the movies, it brings back for audiences the first time they fell in love with the experience of viewing a movie in a darkened theatre. It gives us tremendous pride to represent our nation with this movie, and with the support of our collaborators Samuel Goldwyn Films and Orange Studio, we'll be sure to offer the Academy Awards our best effort!
