A rally in support of refugees and asylum seekers took place in Fermoy, Co Cork on Saturday afternoon.
It followed a protest on Wednesday night by dozens of people outside an accommodation centre in the town where 66 recently arrived international protection (IP) applicants are staying.

People of various ages came with banners at the event today, chanting, "Refugees welcome, asylum seekers welcome."Kate O'Connell, one of the organisers, said: "You have a place here if you live here. Your home is Fermoy." She claimed that "hate mongers" do not provide communities alternatives.A few individuals associated with the protests on Wednesday made an effort to interact with some of the rally attendees.
