Even after hearing the sentence, the accused were furious in the courtroom. Both of them got angry saying that they should not be punished. They repeated what they had said earlier in the court.
The foreign visitor girl, a native of Latvia, lived in Ireland with her partner went missing on March 14, 2018, when she went to Thiruvananthapuram Pothanku Hospital for Ayurvedic treatment. Later, on the 36th day, on April 20, her dead body were found, rotting among the bushes at Poonamthuru, Kovalam.
Prosecutors allege the, 2 accused men lured Liga to the mangroves where she was found, drugged her and sexually assaulted her before killing her.
