On Tuesday, reports of significant traffic congestion on the roadways of Ghaziabad were made when the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra entered Uttar Pradesh from Delhi. The Congress party's yatra route was totally blocked off to vehicular traffic, which caused major backups on detours.
After a brief winter break, the yatra was ready to start and was going to cross into Uttar Pradesh at the Loni border in Ghaziabad. Earlier, the traffic police in Delhi and Ghaziabad sent alerts informing people which roads to avoid so they could find alternate routes.
Traffic was rerouted for security concerns at a number of locations, resulting in backups. In Loni, the entrance for automobiles was shut down.
Chhata Rail Chowk, Red Fort, SPM Marg, Old Iron Bridge, Pusta Road, Ansari Road, on G.T. Road, from Yudhishtir Setu to Seelampur T-Point, and on Wazirabad Road and Loni Road from Shahdra Flyover to Loni Gol Chakkar are likely to have heavy traffic.
