Exeter: UK Malayali A native of Kollam, Pooyappally residing in Plymouth, Reji G. Chekala (57) died unexpectedly. Last night around nine o'clock he collapsed due to physical discomfort.
First aid was given but he died. The cause of death was heart failure. The body has been kept at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Hospital. Reji, who came to the UK in 2005, was an employee of the same hospital.
A parishioner of Bristol St. Thomas Marthoma Church, Reggie Kollam is a family member of Pooyappally, Chekala. On October 23rd, while his elder daughter was getting married in Thiruvananthapuram, he unexpectedly died while looking for his family. On October 1st, he was going to go home for the wedding preparations.
Wife: Julie John (Nurse, Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Hospital, Exeter).
Children: Marilyn, Miriam, Melvin.
Siblings: Omana Alexander (Kottayam), Lizzie Mathew (Exeter, UK), Sajimon Geevarghese (Exeter, UK) and the late Dr. Mohan G. at Chekala ( Marthoma College, Thiruvalla).
The family members and the Malayali community of Exeter are deeply saddened by the passing away of Reji who was actively involved in social, cultural and spiritual fields.
Burial services will take place later in native kerala State, at St. Thomas Marthoma Church, Pooyappally, Kollam.
