Dassault Aviation and Tata Advanced Systems Sign Landmark Agreements to Manufacture Rafale Fuselage in India

Hyderabad, India – In a landmark development for India’s aerospace and defence sector, Dassault Aviation and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) have signed four Production Transfer Agreements to manufacture fuselage sections for the Rafale fighter jet in India. This strategic partnership marks the first time Rafale fuselages will be produced outside France and signals a significant boost to the Government of India’s 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives.

Under the agreement, Tata Advanced Systems will set up a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Hyderabad to produce key structural components of the Rafale aircraft. These include the lateral shells of the rear fuselage, the complete rear section, the central fuselage, and the front section. The facility is expected to begin production by FY2028, with the capability to scale up to delivering two complete fuselage sets per month.

“This partnership marks a significant step in India’s aerospace journey,” said Sukaran Singh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Tata Advanced Systems Limited. “The production of complete Rafale fuselages in India underscores the deepening trust in TASL’s manufacturing capabilities and the strength of our collaboration with Dassault Aviation. It also reflects the rapid progress India has made in building a world-class aerospace ecosystem.”

Dassault Aviation, in an official statement, emphasized that the signing of the agreements reinforces its commitment to India’s vision of industrial self-reliance. “For the first time, Rafale fuselages will be produced outside France. This is a decisive step in strengthening our supply chain in India,” said Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation. “With the support of TASL—one of India’s leading aerospace players—this initiative will meet our stringent quality and competitiveness standards while supporting the rapid ramp-up of Rafale production.”

The collaboration aims to position India as a pivotal player in the global aerospace supply chain, enhancing indigenous capabilities in advanced manufacturing and defence technology.
