Kapil Sharma’s Surrey Café Issues Statement After Vandalism Attack, Vows to Remain Open

Surrey, Canada: Kap’s Caffe, the recently launched café in Surrey owned by Indian comedian Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath, has issued its first official statement following a violent act of vandalism that targeted the establishment earlier this week.

In an emotional and resolute message shared on social media, the café team expressed deep disappointment over the incident while reaffirming their commitment to the community.

"We opened Kap’s Caffe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock, but we are not giving up,” the statement read.

The team extended gratitude to patrons and well-wishers for their support, saying,

"Your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM mean more than you know. This café exists because of your belief in what we’re building together."

Reaffirming their mission, the statement concluded with a message of unity:

"Let’s stand firm against violence and ensure Kap’s Caffe remains a place of warmth and community.”

The incident occurred late Sunday night and is currently under investigation by Canadian authorities. Law enforcement officials suspect the attack was a targeted act linked to the Laddi gang—an outfit reportedly affiliated with the banned Khalistani extremist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). While no injuries were reported, the café sustained considerable property damage.

Authorities have identified Harjit Singh, alias Laddi, a Germany-based BKI operative, as a key suspect. Laddi is already wanted in India for multiple terror-related charges, including the assassination of Hindu leader Prabhakar earlier this year. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India has issued a ₹10 lakh reward for information leading to his capture.

Kap’s Caffe, which had recently held its soft launch, garnered attention for its sophisticated design and welcoming atmosphere. Despite the setback, the owners have confirmed that the café will continue to operate, serving as a space of positivity and resilience for the Surrey community.
