Kerala, : Shajan Skaria, editor of the online channel Marunadan Malayali, was admitted to hospital after being assaulted by DYFI workers on Sunday evening.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. near Mangattukavala in the town, close to the venue of the T.A. Naseer memorial meeting inaugurated by SFI state secretary M. Shivaprasad.
According to eyewitnesses, Shajan, who was returning after attending a wedding in Muthalakodam, was attacked after another car collided with his vehicle. When he stopped, a four-member group allegedly dragged him inside the car and repeatedly struck him on the face and body. Witnesses reported heavy bleeding from his nose following the assault.
Police, led by Todupuzha SHO S. Mahesh Kumar, rushed Shajan first to the district hospital and later shifted him to Smitha Memorial Hospital for specialized treatment.
A case has been registered against four DYFI activists in connection with the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that Shajan’s movements were tracked, and the attack was planned in advance, police sources said.
