Nawada (Bihar): In a remarkable crackdown on the liquor mafia, police in Bihar’s Nawada district uncovered a hidden stockpile of foreign liquor concealed beneath a bathroom floor — a sophisticated “bathroom bunker” that stunned investigators.
The operation took place in Teli Tola, where police arrested Vicky Kumar, son of Shivram Babu, and seized his scooter. Acting on intelligence that Kumar was involved in the illegal liquor trade, a police team led by Bundelkhand Police Station in-charge Dharmveer Kumar conducted a surprise raid at his residence.
The Bathroom Secret
During questioning, Vicky initially denied any involvement in liquor smuggling. However, when interrogated further, he admitted to hiding the bottles inside a concealed chamber beneath his bathroom.
When officers opened the bathroom door, they discovered a cleverly designed toilet setup — beneath which lay a secret compartment. To their astonishment, 29 bottles of foreign liquor were neatly arranged inside the underground storage. The chamber was meticulously constructed and camouflaged, making it nearly impossible to detect during routine inspections.
Police Reaction
Speaking to reporters, Station House Officer Dharmveer Kumar said the operation exposed an unusually inventive technique used by local liquor smugglers.
“Even our officers were surprised by the ingenuity of this setup,” he said. “We are stepping up vigilance to prevent such tactics in the future.”
The police reiterated their commitment to enforcing Bihar’s prohibition laws, vowing strict action against those engaged in the illicit liquor trade.
