Waterford, October 18, 2025 — A man is fighting for his life following a violent assault in Cappoquin, Co. Waterford, late on Friday night.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to the junction of Cook Street and Mill Street at approximately 11:50 p.m. on October 17, after reports of a serious assault.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was treated at the scene before being transferred by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford, where he remains in critical condition.
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward.
In an official statement, a Garda spokesperson said:
“Gardaí in Dungarvan are appealing for witnesses in relation to a serious assault at the junction of Cook Street and Mill Street, Cappoquin, Co. Waterford, on Friday, 17th October 2025, at approximately 11:50 p.m.
A male, aged in his 40s, was conveyed to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of serious injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have video footage — including dash-cam recordings — to contact Dungarvan Garda Station on (058) 48600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
Investigations are currently ongoing as officers work to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.
