Abbotsford: 22-year-old Gursevak Singh has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a business in Abbotsford, Canada.
Police believe the shooting was part of an extortion plot. The shooting occurred at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, at a business in the 31000 block of King Road. Following the incident, Abbotsford Police's Extortion Task Force and Gang Crime Unit launched a joint investigation.
After the shooting, officers, with the help of a police dog, located a suspicious vehicle traveling east on Highway 1. Police stopped the vehicle near Whatcom Road and arrested the driver.
Gursevak Singh was the only person in the vehicle. He has been booked for deliberately opening fire in a public place and creating an atmosphere of terror.
He is currently in police custody. He will be arraigned in court on December 23. Authorities have urged anyone with more information about the incident to contact police or the Project Disengagement Helpline (778-880-6610).
