Amravati: In a significant development in the Paratwada sexual assault case in Maharashtra’s Amravati district, police have arrested the second accused for allegedly circulating obscene videos of the victims on social media.
The accused, identified as Usar Khan Iqbal Khan, was taken into custody by the Amravati Rural Police on charges of downloading objectionable videos from the mobile phone of the prime accused and subsequently disseminating them online. Authorities stated that the circulation of these videos led to their rapid spread across social media platforms.
Police have formally registered a case against the accused and initiated further legal proceedings. According to officials, the investigation remains ongoing, with the possibility of additional arrests in the coming days.
Superintendent of Police Vishal Anand Singhuri confirmed that eight victims have been identified so far. He added that police have reached out to the victims and have provided a dedicated link to enable others to come forward and file complaints confidentially.
In a parallel development, authorities took action against the prime accused, Ayan Tanveer, by demolishing his residence using a bulldozer. Officials stated that the municipal authorities had issued prior notice before removing the allegedly unauthorised structure with the assistance of heavy machinery.
The demolition drew a large gathering in the area, prompting the deployment of additional police personnel to maintain law and order.
Officials reiterated that the investigation is progressing steadily and assured that strict action will be taken against all those found involved in the case.
