The bank strike scheduled for January 30 and 31 has been postponed. It was decided to postpone the strike in the discussions held by the bank employees' unions.
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), a joint forum of bank unions, had announced a two-day strike on January 30 and 31. It was reported that one million employees and officers of all banks in the country will participate in the nationwide strike.
It was decided to postpone the strike after the discussions held by the bank employees' unions with the Chief Labor Commissioner. It has also been agreed to discuss again on January 31. The employees are demanding a timely increase in salary and pension benefits.
