New Delhi: The Ministry of Health has asked the Ministry of Civil Aviation to strengthen the screening and monitoring of Covid-19 at airports. Also warned that international travel should be avoided, crowds should be avoided and masks should be worn. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has announced that the guidelines for international travel are being revised in view of the increase in Covid cases in some countries. According to the ministry, this will be applicable for travel from 10.00 am on December 24 through airports, seaports, land borders etc.
There will be screening for those coming from each country. From 10 am on Saturday, 2 percent of the passengers on the flights arriving in the country should be tested for Covid. The guidelines also state that the concerned airlines should select and provide those who need to undergo inspection. Passengers can exit the airport after providing the sample. The Ministry of Health has also suggested that if the disease is confirmed, the sample should be sent for genetic sequencing. Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has sent a letter to Aviation Secretary Rajeev Bansal containing these matters. International travelers must get the covid vaccine. According to the guidelines issued by the ministry, wear a mask and maintain social distance while travelling.

Those who are preparing to travel
All travelers must be vaccinated according to their country's approved schedule of vaccination against Covid.
To follow on the journey
Notification of precautionary measures to be followed against Covid (use of masks, social distancing etc.) should be ensured at all entry points on flights and journeys.
All passengers exhibiting symptoms of covid during the journey should be isolated as per prescribed covid protocol – above mentioned passengers must wear masks. Isolate from fellow passengers during flight or travel. After travel should be transferred to an isolation facility for further treatment.
Those who travel
Passengers should be released from planes etc. by ensuring physical distance.
Thermal screening of all passengers should be ensured by the designated health personnel at the respective location.
Passengers who develop symptoms during this screening should be isolated immediately. They should be taken to a designated medical facility as per Covid protocol
Other conditions to be ensured on arrival
Two percent of all passengers on board will be screened for Covid-19 at the airport upon their arrival. Children below 12 years of age are excluded from this. But if any of them have symptoms of covid, or if they are under self-monitoring period, they should be tested and treated as per covid protocol.
The airlines concerned (prioritizing passengers from different countries) will select the passengers to undergo such screening on each flight. They will be submitted samples and then allowed to leave the airport.
If the samples collected from such travelers are found to be positive, those samples should be subjected to genomic testing at the INSACOG laboratory network.
Passengers who are found to be infected with Covid-19 should be treated according to the prescribed Covid-19 protocol.
All arriving passengers should self-monitor their health upon arrival. If you have symptoms, you should report to the nearest health center or call the national helpline number 1075 or the state helpline numbers.
