In a series of search operations conducted in Manipur's Imphal East district, security forces successfully dismantled hideouts of two banned militant organizations and arrested several cadres, officials reported on Thursday.
On Wednesday, a hideout of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) at Makou Pourabi was raided. The operation led to the seizure of one air gun, a mobile handset, and a bulletproof helmet. Additionally, a training camp of the proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) in the same area was destroyed, with security forces recovering an INSAS LMG magazine, a bayonet, five wooden dummy guns, two walkie-talkie sets, and cartridges.
In related operations, nine cadres of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (Peoples’ War Group) [KCP (PWG)] were apprehended over the past two days for their involvement in extortion activities.
Two KCP (PWG) operatives were arrested on Wednesday from the Mantripukhri Bazaar area in Imphal East. Demand letters and cash receipt notes associated with the outfit were recovered from their possession. A day earlier, another KCP (PWG) cadre was apprehended in the Tangkhul Avenue area of Imphal West district for similar extortion activities.
These operations underscore the commitment of security forces to neutralize militant activities in the region and maintain law and order in Manipur. Further investigations are underway to uncover additional networks and activities linked to these banned organizations.
