Coimbatore, October 19, 2025 — A shocking incident at the Coimbatore Government Hospital has sent shockwaves through the city after a 30-year-old man was brutally stabbed to death during a violent altercation on the hospital premises. Police have arrested a suspect identified as Vignesh (23) in connection with the murder.
The deceased, Vijay (30), a native of Cuddalore, was employed at a banian manufacturing company in Tiruppur. He had been staying in Coimbatore for the past week after his pregnant wife, Ranjana (28), was referred to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for advanced medical care.
Dispute That Led to the Murder
The accused, Vignesh, a resident of Neelikonampalayam in Singanallur, Coimbatore, had also admitted his wife, Krithika, to the same maternity ward. Vignesh worked at a local meat shop.
Police investigations revealed that a dispute had erupted between Vijay and Vignesh several days earlier, reportedly leading to a physical altercation. The animosity between the two men is believed to have escalated into the fatal attack.
The Brutal Attack
On Saturday evening, both men reportedly met near a temple inside the hospital premises to discuss their differences. The conversation soon turned violent, and in a fit of rage, Vignesh allegedly pulled out a concealed knife and stabbed Vijay multiple times — eleven in total — targeting his chest and neck.
Eyewitnesses rushed to the scene upon hearing cries for help and found Vijay collapsed in a pool of blood. He was immediately taken inside the hospital for emergency treatment but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Arrest and Investigation
Vignesh attempted to flee the scene but was swiftly apprehended by bystanders, who handed him over to the Race Course Police. Officers have arrested the accused and initiated a detailed investigation into the incident.
The gruesome killing inside a government hospital campus has raised serious security concerns among the public and authorities. Additional police personnel have been deployed in and around the hospital to prevent further unrest as investigations continue.
